Microphone Troubleshooting Support
Use this guide to identify and fix microphone issues on iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows. Start with the quick checks, then follow your device section.

Quick checks first
- Make sure your browser has microphone permission enabled.
- Unplug and reconnect wired headsets or USB microphones.
- Disconnect unused Bluetooth audio devices.
- Close other apps that may be using the microphone.
- Restart your browser, then restart your device if needed.
- Test with a second app (voice recorder/call app) to confirm if the issue is system-wide or browser-specific.
iOS (iPhone/iPad)
Fast path:
Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone > enable your browser.
- Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Enable microphone access for your browser (Safari/Chrome).
- In Safari: Settings > Safari > Camera & Microphone, then choose Allow.
- Turn off Bluetooth temporarily and test again.
- Update iOS and your browser app to the latest version.
macOS
Fast path:
System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Allow access for your browser (Safari/Chrome/Edge).
- Open System Settings > Sound > Input, and select the correct microphone device.
- Increase input volume and disable mute where available.
- Quit apps like Zoom/Teams that can lock the microphone.
Android
Fast path:
Settings > Apps > Browser > Permissions > Microphone > Allow.
- Open Settings > Apps > your browser > Permissions.
- Set Microphone permission to Allow.
- Disable battery optimization for your browser if applicable.
- Disconnect Bluetooth headsets and retry.
- Update Android System WebView and browser app.
Windows
Fast path:
Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
- Open Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
- Turn on Microphone access and Let desktop apps access your microphone.
- Open Settings > System > Sound > Input and choose the correct microphone.
- Use Input test to confirm your voice is detected.
- Update audio drivers from Device Manager if needed.
